The Ideal Candidate
Candidates for BOTOX® treatment are adults who are experiencing visual signs of aging on the face and forehead caused by wrinkles that appear when certain facial expressions are made. These are called dynamic wrinkles because they become noticeable when smiling, frowning or pouting expressions are made. What to Expect
During the consultation, the client will perform some expressions such as frowning or narrowing the eyes. This allows us to see where the dynamic wrinkles are forming, how large they are and whether these lines disappear when the muscles are relaxed. We’ll note the thickness of the skin and the depth of the muscles that are contracting. This will help us determine the exact locations for injecting BOTOX®, as well as how much of the fluid to use.
When skillfully injected into the upper-level facial muscles, the BOTOX® solution blocks nerve signal transmission to these muscles even when a signal is sent from the brain commanding the contraction of the muscles. The muscles stay relaxed, and the skin above them remains smooth. The client can still make all of the normal facial expressions. The only difference is the skin in the treated area remains smooth.
