What is Kybella®?
This prescription medicine is an injectable form of synthetic deoxycholic acid that can be used to reduce fullness below the chin and improve the appearance of a double chin. Deoxycholic acid occurs naturally in the body and helps the body break down and process dietary fat. The deoxycholic acid in Kybella® targets fat cells under the chin and permanently destroys them, which prevents them from accumulating or storing fat in the future and reduces submental fullness.
Am I a candidate?
Men and women who are at least 18 years of age and older and are interested in reducing fullness below the chin are potential candidates for this injectable treatment. Prior to your injection session, we will discuss your desired results and review your general health and medical history to determine if Kybella® is the right choice for you.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed to achieve optimal results may vary from patient to patient depending on the individual patient’s goals for treatment and severity of submental fullness. Most of our patients are able to achieve their desired results with a series of two to three injection session scheduled approximately four weeks apart. Some patients may require additional treatment sessions to achieve their aesthetic goals.
What results can I expect?
Many patients are able to achieve long-lasting, if not permanent, improvement in the treated area with Kybella® injections. The deoxycholic acid in Kybella® permanently destroys the fat cells in the treated area and inhibits their ability from storing or accumulating fat in the future. Individual results may vary.
Are there potential side effects?
You may experience some mild, injection-related side effects, including redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, and/or discomfort at or around the injection site. These side effects are temporary and should resolve on their own within a week on your injection session.
What is CoolMini®?
The CoolMini® uses the same Cryolipolysis technology as CoolSculpting and works by exposing targeted fat cells to freezing temperatures to permanently destroy them. Once the fat cells have been destroyed, the body naturally eliminates them from the body, which results in a reduction of submental fullness and an improvement in the contour of your chin. We typically recommend a series of one to three treatment sessions in order to achieve optimal results.
